Zoom Flume Renovation, 2018
Zoom Flume has been family own since opening to the public in 1980. The park has been expanded since then, but after numerous years of operation the owners had a number of conserns that needed to be addressed.
By working with our clients to create a program for the renovation, we were able to gain a better understanding of the day-to-day issues that were arising with the current layout. During this programming phase, we were able to identify issues that has created congestion around the entrance, as well as a greater understanding of the departments and roles of department heads and their relationships, which allowed us to group employees with similar tasks that require frequent direct communication, which were previously spread between multiple buildings
We determined that the ticket sales, bag check, season pass window and gift shop entrance were too close together and created constant congestion. Relocating the ticket sales to the far end of the building, placing the bag check area between the ticket sales and entrance and finally relocating the season pass window away from high traffic areas, alleviated the congestion they were witnessing with their current layout.
Finally, a new welcoming double-height gift shop further enhanced their customer's experience, and increases sales volume.
